Dusk settles in on this last week of winter.<\/p>\n
Light lingers a few more minutes.<\/p>\n
The day’s news, grim and foreboding,<\/p>\n
weighs on our minds, breaks our hearts.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Night’s darkness helps to mask our pain,<\/p>\n
but still we question our responsibility<\/p>\n
in these times. Is there nothing we can do?<\/p>\n
Too heavy. Too much.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
We say a prayer and slip into sleep.<\/p>\n
Soon spring will come, perhaps new peace.<\/p>\n
Nature does not contemplate our human endeavors,<\/p>\n
but reacts to changes in environment, no matter the cause.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Hope carries us through to dawn<\/p>\n
with ice and snow near gone.<\/p>\n
We long for bulbs to awaken and inspire us<\/p>\n
to live in peace and beauty once again.<\/p>\n
