I hear their loud, rattling, bugle calls<\/p>\n
filtering down from high in the sky.<\/p>\n
The sharp light of the sun blinds me<\/p>\n
as I search for a glimpse of them.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Then I see them reeling northward<\/p>\n
in large swirling flocks – swoops.<\/p>\n
I smile cheerfully watching their seeming<\/p>\n
confusion on their springtime journey.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Their calls encourage each other<\/p>\n
to pay attention and follow.<\/p>\n
This looks like confusion or<\/p>\n
joyful play to us down below.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I love the neighboring geese calling and<\/p>\n
flying in formation over my house.<\/p>\n
But, the wild springtime visitation of<\/p>\n
Sand-hill Cranes thrills my soul.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I encourage them on their flyway to<\/p>\n
places like Tomahawk,, Wisconsin<\/p>\n
where they often visit, replenishing themselves<\/p>\n
and perhaps, making their summer plans.<\/p>\n
